Literature Text

Tears don't leave any scars,
That's more than I can say for you my dear,
Invisible but forever there,
My wounds ache, eternally fresh, never healing.

You took what you wanted and walked away,
Unfortunately you took a lot out of me,
Leaving gaping holes in my personality,
In my self confidence,
In my sanity.

Tears don't leave any scars,
That's why they're not enough.
Tonight I'll show the world
How I feel on the inside.
I have no idea about these lyrics. According to the metadata I wrote them on the 16th of October last year but they sound like I was angry at someone - the free-verse suggests I was too distraught to write well - but I can't remember any big painful experiences last October. The title is really familiar though so my current hypothesis is that I read or heard that line somewhere and it inspired me to write about past experiences. And maybe the free-verse is because I don't write often anymore so I was struggling with conventions. Who knows...
But here is a poem!
